Of course you are absolutely right.
People are "triggered" by different things...
I have a girlfriend who was molested as a child on Thanksgiving... and she can't face the holiday.
But I can't say, "OK everyone - ban turkey's."
As Charles Rogers stated in a post below... when a customer found some chips disturbing, he immediately removed them. And OF COURSE - that was the right thing to do.
I am showing some irritation here - but PLEASE understand I am NOT making light of the horrific events, deaths, pain or ruin of innocent lives caused by Hitler.
This Board doesn't banish jerks, idiots, bigots, lewd jokes or naked women on chips. Comments suggest "we" (any of us... all of us) are always welcome and sensitivity to others should ALWAYS be attempted in hopes to maintain a harmonious atmosphere...
HOWEVER... when I see "a turkey", I don't think about what my girlfriend" does.
When I see a poker chip (and in this case, even the Indian good luck sign", I don't think about Germany. I DO wonder how many wound up in landfills because people couldn't stomach the grief of what that symbol had become.
The course of history changes everything...
But I don't boycott rice because of Pearl harbor.
I don't criticize Steve Goodrich because a fire fighter was arrested for starting Arizona's tragic "Rodeo" fire.
And although PERSONALLY I am "opposed" to slabbing, I am PRO-CHOICE first (and I AM REFERRING TO "slabbing" ONLY here... this is NOT an invitation to get in a serious moral debate!)
People think what they think.
People collect what they like.
And although people should always consider others feelings/ grief/ pain...
in America, we are free to make our final choices - but NOT press them on those who do not agree.
How does Gene put this? Where's the fork?? I AM DONE
