While I understand any revulsion of the Nazi's, I think that you do have to look at the fact that they misused a symbol which previously held no offence.
One of the reasons for my view is that here in the UK, the National Front (who are a right wing party and supporters of what Nazi-ism stood for) use the Union Flag (our national flag) as their symbol. Although they do this, I would not expect everyone to shun our national flag because of its use by a right wing political organisation, and that is why I would not want items with the Swastika to be tagged offensive if they have nothing to do with (and that generally pre-dates) Nazi-ism.
To allow the use of a symbol by an organisation which most people disagree with to taint it's original meaning is I believe wrong. To consider the extreme, if the KKK started using the American Flag as it's logo, would the average American citizen shun the Stars & Stripes? I would suggest not, which would be the correct response.
