In a courtroom, a person getting ready to testify doesn't place their hand on a bible and swear to God they are telling the truth for a reason, right? Courtrooms are also public places, full of government employees and all paid for with tax dollars.

Morality, values and acceptable behavior are all traits desirable in a civilized society. Instilling them in our nation's children by those who are, in todays world, around them as much or more than their parents is crucial to our survival as a species.
I care about what the kids being born today think and do, things that they'll do long after I'm gone from this planet. I don't know why I care, but I do. ...amd banning patrotic encouragement in the form of reciting the pledge of allegiance in the classroom ia not a move that I can view as positive in any way, shape or manner.
