It's a pledge, not an oath nor a prayer!

As to the quip about it being a method of indocrination, everything taught to young children is some form of indocrination, the words are congruent in that aspect.

Teaching children to respect the flag and what it stands for is not a bad thing, whether done in a public or parochial school. Using the Pledge of Allegiance to do so on a daily basis in these days and times needs to be encouraged, instead of being forced out of our classrooms by atheist lawsuits.
