... the Pledge of Allegiance is a worthy use of school time.
On the other hand, the phrase "under god" adds nothing to the benefits that students might derive from this simple act of patriotism.

The "freedoms" on which this country was founded and which we are currently afforded include freedom "from" religion as well as freedom "of" religion. State sponsored religion is specifically prohibited by our Constitution.
>> ... take your kid and get out of our country.
That sentiment has no appropriate place in either our national discourse on the issue or in our discussion here on the ChipBoard. This is their country, too, and they are as entitled to their opinions as you are to yours. In fact, it is adherence to minority opinions and beliefs and the protection of the right to hold such opinions and beliefs for which the First Amendment was written.
