The guy that filed the suit also wants "In God we trust" removed from US currency.
God is not religion specific. It is a generic name given to the belief in a higher being. Placing that name upon our currency or having it included in a pledge to our country does not violate any provision of the constitution.
The plaintiff filed suit on behalf of his daughter, claiming she was forced to include the word "God" in a classroom group recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. That is totally false. His daughter could be silent during the entire pledge. She could not utter the words "under God" if she chose to do so.
I happpen to be quite comfortable believing in a higher being. Lord knows I probably would have not survived this long without a little guidance.
