"Archie, please don't think for one moment my objection is against Jim Munding, for it isn't. I believe Jim has as much knowledge relating to slots and keys as anyone, more than most."
You sure could have fooled me Paul.
Jim is the driving force behind organizing this Chapter and I commend him for taking the lead.
"I do not believe however, that this was his idea for if it was, I'm pretty sure he would have counseled with others he knew would have an imput and this he did not do. No, I think (although I have no proof) that he was handed this "job" of putting together a chapter by those "higher up individuals" and told to go with it."
I have had absolutely NO discussion with Jim about a slot card Chapter, before, during, or after the convention. I will admit that I have been a staunch supporter of the idea of a Slot Card Chapter from the very first day Pat Lamb began PACK. The first I heard about the formal organization of this proposed new chapter is when I read about it on thechipboard.com.
"If I am wrong in my assumption, then I formally apologize to Jim but I belive him to have more savvy than for him to come up with this scheme and pounce it on us all of a sudden."
I can't speak for Jim Munding... he is quite capable of doing that for himself.
"I care less about swizzle sticks, ashtrays, ice cube machines or toilet seats. I am only concerned with Slots and keys. And my concerned is for us to be left alone to do as we have done in the past."
So then why would you care if there were six groups of slot card collectors? I keep hearing this talk about "leaving us alone" when no one is interfering with PACK or the other slot card group.
"I suppose one way to INSURE that dissenters join a chapter is to prevent attendence at the national trade session, and restrict non-members from trading at our local meetings. You have the power to do that if you wish."
Again, I don't speak for the CC & GTCC officers, nor do I have any "power", but I'm sure that the elected club officers will have the final say on who is allowed to attend events at CC & GTCC sponsored functions... and my guess would be all CC & GTCC members will be welcome. I can say this with some degree of certainty, that a Chapter can insist that only Chapter members vote on issues that are germain to Chapter business.
"There is not much more I can really say on the subject. At this point we are at an impasse --or maybe I should say, I am at an impasse."
Paul; All I can say is... "who brought this subject up with the intial posting in this thread regarding slot card and key collectors?"
"I think it would be nice if others, (other than the executive committee members) to post their opinion--either pro or con-- IF THEY HAVE THE GUTS--so that all of us could get a feel of how the wind is blowing. For all I know, I might be the only one against this proposal and if that is the case, what's the argument about."
Paul... I qualify as "other than executive committee members" and I've posted my opinion. Sorry that it differs so much with yours.
