Very astute observation Lloyd. Not all buyers on ebay are collectors. Some are dealers who are bidding in anticipation of re-selling the chip to a customer. Also, not all customers of chip dealers visit ebay that often ... or maybe never ... if they are not on-line. Yes, surprise, surprise ... many collectors still don't have a computer!!! If a customer has placed a standing order for a $25 Hagar at "X" amount of dollars with his/her favorite chip dealer, and a dealer sees one being offered on ebay for considerably less than the standing offer, the dealer will certainly bid on behalf of his client.
