for several reasons:
1 -- Politics and politicians are about EGO & POWER not service.
2 -- Politicians are very well compensated by the taxpayers in salary and perqs, making them employees of the public. An employer not only has the right, but the duty to tell his employees how he would like things done.

What you and Andy & Gene are ignoring is that all the officers of this club are volunteers. When nobody wants to volunteer any more, then where are we?
