I store mine Open (so I can pull 'em out and see all angles without opening and closing the cover), in a small plastic bag (some are zip-lock, some are postcard bags), standing on the edge and alternating so that the cover of one pack is toward me, with the matches on the right and the cover of the next pack is away from me with the matches on the left (keeps them fairly even), and a shoe box is just about the right size (to start with )
