Sure its not an award, but they don't put every musician on a chip. They must have some criteria to use.

If your going to put him on a chip, you may as put the house band from the lounge at the Holiday Inn in Wichita on a chip.

Sammy Hagar is musically insignificant (of course that is probably true of most bands honored by the Hard Rock).
