First if I got a payment from a character like the one pictured above, I would sterilize it, bless it, quarantine it, and then have someone else take it to the bank! And I would ship WITHOUT a return address!!

Actually, I too am like Larry (but I don't wear pink tights ) I ship immediately for eBay, Jackpot, and direct chip sales without waiting for payment.
1) People I know (friends, chippers & currency collecting friends)
2) People I see on the board who regularly post
3) Any I have ever done business or trades with in the past
4) Many people who just have a high POS+ feedback or I just feel good about

I don’t advertise that I do this and set myself up as a target (I just did by this post ).
I do not hold a check to see if it clears (I am sure many items each their designation before the check is even deposited) I do state that I will hold the check until it clears but never have. Twice I thought club members ‘stiffed’ me for some goods but I sat quietly, both times the checks came (postmarked WEEKS earlier).

To date I have NEVER been burned... not ONCE, when that day happens, I will re-think my policy. I like to get my items quickly and hassle free, I ASSUME everyone else feels the same way so I send it as quickly as possible. I believe most of the people are fair and honest. Some would like to sell me a $5 chip (worth $15) for a ½ oz gold coin too!

If an item is over $50 (eBay) I build in the cost of insurance and state that in the ad, other transactions I just pay the cost from any profits or my pocket. If you bought chips from me you will remember I insured anything over $50 or with a $25 chip in the set. The money I can afford its the hard feelings that aint worth it.
