I'm not sure comparing brick 'n mortar to eBay is entirely fair. At least with a store or a bank, I have some expectation there will be someone there tomorrow. (Maybe )
And I didn't mean to get real black and white here. As the seller, eBay gives me the power to set my rules. I do take advantage of that to protect myself to some degree. I also take advantage of my right as a buyer to avoid sellers who treat me like a criminal up front. These eBay ads with a lot of "legal" crap about the sellers rights and limited payment options and threats to deadbeat bidders and all that...
I would think they'd eventually get a clue. A lot of people won't bid in the face of all that crap. Just like the brick 'n mortar stores I stay away from if they treat me like the enemy when I walk in the door. Can you say "Chapter 11"?
I'm only suggesting that friendliness and a sense of fairness goes a long way in this world towards getting and keeping business, on eBay and elsewhere. I'm just amazed every day at how many eBay sellers don't get it.
