Maybe that solves the problem for others caught in the middle. It sounds like an equitable solution. You can go help a friend and go to the convention and show, but retain your personal conviction by not spending a cent on anything that goes back into the casino.

I'm way on the other side of this issue. Not a union man and when I was forced to belong to one, all they did was take my dues (blackmail money for the right to work...) and screwed the members.

But the point isn't what's for me, but what would work well for you and others who are confronted with the moral delima. Your personal solution can probably apply to anyone else who wants to come to the convention and continue to support their union ties.
