To All,
The primary issue on the table involving the union and management is : HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE. Forget pay raise, vacation time, breaks, and all the other crap.
Management has decided to quit paying for health issurance coverage for its workers when the current contract expires.
I asked myself what would I do if I lost my health issurance coverage. I really could not come up with an answer. Ask yourself - what would you do if your company took away your coverage.
Has anyone priced coverage of a private policy? I have and I couldn't afford it.
I don't know people. I believe there will be a strike. The issue is to important to workers NOT TO STRIKE. Too bad for Nevada, the people who work for a living, and the casinos. This whole affair is a lose, lose for everyone. Health issurance is not an elective it's a must. I believe it goes beyond Management vs The Union. It is fundamental necessity because it takes in a worker and all he/she touches.
When the Horseshoe management had their health insurance taken away I felt the same distress I now feel for the union memebers.
I have put the question of crossing a picket line aside for the moment and hurt for those who will be without health coverage - Management and/ or Union, what's the difference it hurts just as bad!!!!
Best, Mr."P"
