Bob; I'm aware of the differences between copyrights and trade mark registrations ...I merely used the Bell System logo as an example of protecting ones work ... whether it be a copyright issue or a trade mark dispute.
I didn't want to get into a debate over this issue... but what is the purpose of paying a fee and providing two copies of one's reference work to register one's published works with the Library of Congress for copyright if all one has to do is simply say; "I've published, therefore I'm protected by the copyright laws of the United States" ... without going through all the filing steps?
