***ATTENTION ALL ANGELS FANS***
Orvan Gene Autry was born in Tioga, Texas, on September 29, 1907. He bought his first guitar at the age of 12 for $8. He began his radio career in 1928 and made his first recordings a year later. Gene appeared in 93 feature films and made 635 recordings. These recordings have sold more than 60 million copies and brought him more than a dozen gold records. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1949) remains the second best selling single of all time, with sales totaling more than 30 million.
Gene Autry's great love of baseball prompted him to purchase the American League's California Angels (now the Anaheim Angels) in 1961. Long active in Major League Baseball, Autry held the title of Vice President of the American League until his death.
What does all this have to do with chip collecting? ...We're coming to that part !!
In addition to Gene's other interests, he also owned real estate. Among his holdings was the Hotel Continental. It was located at 8401 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, CA. Today it is the Hyatt West Hollywood. Within the Continental was the Red Roulette Room. It featured a great bar and fine dining.
Now to the chip story. At that same time, AM Radio Sales was located at 5939 Sunset Blvd. These "Good for a Cocktail" chips for the Red Roulette Room were delivered to AM in 1964.
It is quite a coincidence (or is it?) that these chips have surfaced at the same time that Gene's beloved Angels are going to the World Series for the first time. There are a total of 19 chips available. Most are in mint condition.
If you collect California chips, advertising chips, small crown chips, or just chips with an interesting story, don't miss this one. This unusual chip can be added to your collection for $22 + $1.50 P&H, $23.50 total.

Thanks and good luck to Gene's Angels in the World Series.
