Good answers to this. I also sensed that this was just an attempt to slap The Palms for their chip program. I can't figure why there is such an attitude. Live and let live I say. If 4Q wants to put out so many chips with so little cheracter(JUST MY OPINION) and they feel it suits their needs and they are selling then more power to them. Like you say, I vote with my dollars. If I don't like I don't buy.
I think that all of the Palms chips that I have seen, while I may not have been interested in the subject, have had nice art and were attractive. I can see how some collectors would want them. To further define my thought here I would add, I am 42, single and have no children and am not one of your bigger partiers or socially or musically hip types. Therefore, what appeals to me or is recognizable to me is different than those patrons or collectors in their 20s and 30s or those who have kids who are into some of the more current bands etc. Sometimes looking at the Palms releases I start to feel like an old fart because I don't get them. I don't recognize the bands and so on. That doesn't mean the chips are meaningless or pointless. It just means I might not understand them.
Further I would point out that The Palms for 2002 was, for the most part, a startup casino resort and have been building a customer base and image etc. They, I am sure, have also been refining their chip supplies for needs for new games, growth etc. Like Gene said, for example, there are 11 roulettes that were never used because, if I understand correctly, They planned for more tables and colors than they ultimately used. If you figure in the added chips just for house use, not for LE or Commemoratives, it would stand to reason that Palms would be toward the top of the list.
