My only other accessible PC is a laptop and it's not easy, or maybe even possible, to connect another drive to it. Also it's running WINDOWS XP. I am considering using the RESTORE feature on the WINDOWS-ME to put back the corrupted system files. Norton didn't suggest it but it's worth a try before reformatting.
Since the worm is smart enough to prevent Norton antivirus software from being reinstalled, it probably would also block McAffey, but that may be another good thing to try before giving up.
Actually, I think the virus has been removed since I did run Norton once with updated files. I just have to figure how to remove the changes the virus made to my files.
