Ron, I will get some additional info from a co-worker that just went from 2-way to cable. He day trades and was not happy with lag times and costs of service. Your costs may well be completely different from his but as was stated in an earlier post the lag times can be a problem depending on what you do with it. There were very high data transfer rates. (downloading dirty pictures lag time is not a problem, so your probably OK )

I went to cable and have the same problem.. what to do with the laptop when away. I am normally at the camp (same area code) so I have set up the desktop at home to answer a dedicated line via modem and I access the internet using the cable on the home network. It's about 33.6 from the camp, but it beats NO SERVICE or subscribing to a service that is not used very often. (My connection from the camp to my ISP was slow also, due to poor phone lines or distances. So no big sacrifice.)
