TOWN HOUSE Elko Picture & Story!

Here's the TOWN HOUSE ELKO Picture and Story.

The Town House opened in August 1935 with "21"
and Roulette.
In 1937, craps was added.
Live gaming ended in 1950 and possibly started again later but no records are yet found.
The Town House is listed in Harvey Fuller's
"Index of Nevada Gambling Establishments" to 1958.

Located next to the Hotel Mayer which became Stockmen's in 1944 and burned in the mid 50's.
Possibly the Town House did too.
The whole area in this picture is now Stockmen's.

I found 7 of these in Elko & were told they are from there. I have heard others have been found as mentioned on the board here last week. I can't see why the Reno club would of changed their chips 4 times as we know of 3 molds already. I feel that this chip is from Elko. I am still researching Elko & will then do some checking in Reno. If anyone knows the owners names for Reno please let me know. It could be possible that they had the same owners as both opened early on in gaming history.

I will post more chips from some new discoveries next week when the chips arrive in Santa Barbara. I have made 2 new discoveries so far & am having someone research Elko right now & we have gaming records all recorded from 1923 to 50. Books on later than 50 have not been found yet. Yes, that is 1923! Before the legalization of gaming in 31 surrounding areas of Elko has gaming & lots of it. Possibly more than Reno even in the 40's. For sure more then Vegas. 1948 shows 50 licenses for live gaming. Many for slot joints but I am only loging down live gaming establishments. Remember this was Highway 40, now 80, & the main road through Nevada to California.

I have this chip on jcampi ebay ending this Thurs. evening. Take a look!!
