I too understand Mr. Kidd's point, but I don't know what "in-fighting" he is referring to. I see alot of questions being asked about this unfortunate situation, and I think that is healthy.
I've been in this club since day one ... and over the years I have frequently heard the doomsayers heralding the end of this organization over one controversy or another. I have often read the word "fun" invoked in some of these sky-is-falling posts. There is plenty of "fun" in this hobby to go around for everyone. Sometimes one has to go out and seek it .... it ain't just going to sneak up on you and bite you in the *ss. Whatever you were doing before that provided you with fun and entertainment in this hobby, then I suggest you keep doing it. If getting involved in club politics and policies is not your cup of tea, then stay away from it and continue to do the things that pleasure you.
Some of us who frequent this bb and the club message board have the club's best interests in our hearts and minds. Sometimes we disagree with decisions made. Sometimes we disagree with decisions that are NOT made. Some of us just plain disagree. Society is like that. Our club is no different than society in general.
Folks, there are 2600-2700 club members of all different personalities and persuasions in this club. There are probably about 10% or less of that number who frequent this bulletin board. Some are more vocal than others, but at least the ones who do post are letting others know what is on their mind by being candid and outspoken. Others may share similar unspoken positions but are reluctant to post them publicly. Those 10% on this bb are witnessing some occasional family squabbles that the other 90% of the family are not privy to. Yes, there are occasional outbursts from some member(s) who have legitimate gripes. It's nothing that many of us have not witnessed before. In fact, some of the more disgruntled ones finally take leave and are not heard from for some time. Some of them return at a later date, some of them do not.
In short, enjoy your hobby; it's still a great one. Ask the pertinent questions when problems arise. Usually it's not the insensitive questions asked that are offensive ... sometimes it's the lack of candid responses that members find offensive. I think that most of the members are smart enough to read between the lines and understand the differences between the two.
