A few times when in Las Vegas I have had to deal with this regulation. The first time that I had a problem was in 2000. I bought in at a 21 table for $3000. I played for about a two hours. During that period I made about $6500. I was on a role and had it not been for an a**hole hitting an 18, I would have surely broken the house!! When I colored up I had nine $1000 checks and a $500 check. When I went to the cage, I was asked to present my players card in order to verify my action. The problem was that enough time had not passed in order for my action to have been applied to my account. Every since then, I just put my chips in my safe deposit box until the next day. I have never had another "problem" when cashing in.
