Craig,
I was just reading a past issue of Doug Saito's "Chip Chat", from February of 1995. Here's what he had to say about a different kind of chip release....
"IS IT SUPER BOWL OR SUPER BRAWL?"
All we needed was Gunga to add to the din that was created when the Four Queens put this Super Bowl chip on the tables with the prerequisite that you had to buy in at $100.00 in order to get the chip. Faster than you can say Oklahoma Land Rush, the chip rush was on. About a dozen chip dealers and their hirelings quickly bought in, never bothered to play, stampeded to the cage, quickly cashed out $95.00 in house chips, then repeated the process.
Pit bosses were soon screaming because the tables were running out of regular house chips. Play was actually suspended on some tables for want of chips. Two chippers were asked to leave...that's gotta be a first -- Chip Collectors Thrown Out of Casino!"
I found Doug's comments ...but I imagine that the employees, other Four Queens patrons, and chip dealers were or !
