Thanks for the response. My question on where they are available for purchase was somewhat hypothetical. I assumed no one was "openly" selling these chips. On the under $10 question, since the Harrah's brass core chips are available at face at the Reno cage, I'd assumed that changing one of the $1 yellow chips to pink would make for a cheap fantasy chip. The only reason anyone would pay big money for it, I'd think, would be if they believed if was some sort of "error." Reading Nate's post makes it sound like we don't know how many chips were created, which leads me to wonder if Mr. Whalen co-operated "fully." Did he give us the name of everyone he sold one of these brass-cores to? Sounds like he didn't to me.
