To determine that intent, it is often necessary to rely solely on the statements and actions of the individual involved. Finders of fact, judges and juries, do it all the time.

With some people, I would feel comfortable relying exclusively on their word. I would accept your representation about such a thing without question. Many others in the club, too.

I haven't said whether I think any of the things he did was "wrong" or not. I have expressed my opinion only on the issue of whether anything he did was a violation of our club's rules, subject to discipline by the club.

I may or may not, at some point in the future, express some personal opinion whether any of the brass core stuff (there are actually at least four different activities involved, perhaps more depending on how you look at it) is "wrong".
