... unwarranted assumptions and, to a certain degree, jumped the gun.
>> Mr. Whalen has created counterfiet chips ...
Not true, at least not entirely. The chips were made from real, legitimate brass cores that were produced for the casinos involved. Some were even finished chips that were in some way damaged (e.g., by fire or cancellation) and which David repaired by replacing the "plastic" coating. If you have a collectible antique car and it becomes damaged and you repair it by replacing parts or repainting it (same or a different color), does that make your car a counterfeit? I don't think so.
And, yes, there is a difference between cars and chips, but in this respect, only about a gnat's worth.

On this point, you jumped the gun. The board has announced no decision about what they are going to "allow" him to do in the future (not that they have much say about that, anyway). My post merely reported that he is prepared to add his initial to the chips as a way of prominently distinguishing them from original manufacturer chips. This is, in fact, a variation of the approach taken by the Hobby Protection Act, which requires that reproductions be marked in some way (don't recall off hand what marking is required
>> This guy should be banished immediately for such action.
Actually, at the moment, he apparently is not even a member, so there isn't anything the board can do to him.
>> Repair my ass. This is counterfeiting, highly punishable, or have we forgotten.
I respectfully disagree, as indicated above. And, as far as I know, what he is doing is not "highly punishable", if by that you mean criminally. I suspect that there is a law in Nevada which would make it illegal to manufacture counterfeit chips for the purpose of passing them at a casino (help me out here, Gene). But I also doubt that law would apply to chips from casinos which no longer exist. Even if we were talking about real counterfeits, which we're not.
> He has clearly done this with a clear thinking mind ...
Which is actually more than can be said about some of the responses being posted here.
>> and now he is to have carte blanche to continue.
Where did you get that from? And, in any event, the club has no power to stop him from continuing to do this. Albeit, if you had carefully read my post on the subject, HE HAS VOLUNTARILY AGREED NOT TO PENDING THE CONCLUSION OF THIS INQUIRY. I have no reason to doubt that he has complied with this self-imposed restriction.
>> Sure makes one want to go out and buy brass cores,

As I said to Chuck Mades, I have a lot of brass cores and would buy more without hesitation, based on the guidelines which I have now twice posted on both boards.
