I remember reading as a kid, some 30-40 years ago about a man who purchased a very rare US postage stamp, upside down airplane I think, for about $250,000 knowing that there were only two in existence (he also had the other one). After the purchase he promptly destroyed one.

I don't agree with his logic but people will do what they will do like it or not.
