part, but I wish to add this.......

I frequently ask the 'value' question because it needs to be in the database for a multiple of reasons. First and foremost, insurance purposes. Secondly, chances are my chip collection (or at least the individual chips) will out survive me. At that point in time they belong to my heirs, to do as they see fit. Thirdly, as important as my collection (along with traders) is, I will, in-a-heartbeat sell them off in the event of a life-threatening emergency to family members (or myself) that is not appropriately covered by other sources.

I do not see asking the 'value' question as being contrary to either collecting, or having fun while collecting, nor does it reflect a aura of greed or commerce unto a collector.
