On my plane trip to Las Vegas last week (to fly out to Ft. Lauderdale) I was talking with a passenger who discovered that I collected chips. (Well, maybe I let on that I collected chips. Could have been that the CC>CC T-Shirt was a giveaway.) Anyway, he told me about a chip that he got from Nellis, AFB (just North of Las Vegas) that was a special thing for his military Unit. I told him that I was familiar with some of those and could be describe it. He then pulled out his wallet and in the section that most people keep their Driver's License (behind the plastic window) he had the chip and metal medallion (the medallion is a drinking thing).
I could see that the chip was fairly dirty, and it competed for space against the medallion. I told him that I hadn't seen that one, and to help protect it I offered an air-tite. At first he took the air-tite and was ready to put the chip in it, but then changed his mind and said, "Here, you can have this one, I have another back home."
On the surface it looks like a trade of an air-tite for a chip, but in reality it's a trade of a kindness for a kindness. We didn't exchange names, or cards, or anything except for those actions.
With a little cleanser, this chip will look real good.
Thank you stranger.
