Greetings from Lost Vegas! I just got a phone call and was told to read all of the posts on the elusive "APACHE CASINO". I would like to inform the readers and club members alike the FACTS on the "APACHE CASINO" and it's chips. First of all (3)roulette large crown TR King different pastel colored chips were discovered by me "Rich Burgel" about 6 months ago here in Las Vegas. Along with the chips I obtained from the original collector who had lived in Las Vegas since the 1930's ... were an original cocktail napkin from the Apache Bar ... a mint condition book of matches from the "Apache Casino" (not the Apache Hotel)... also came an 8x10 black & white photograph taken in front of the Apache Casino. The Apache Hotel was built and only operated as a hotel. They leased the store fronts out as (a) Apache Casino ... (b) Apache Bar ... (c) Apache Cafe. All of these short run business's were independant of the hotel owners. There definetly was a casino called "Apache Casino" my photo's and postcards clearly show the beautiful neon signage. The sign was designed and manufactured by the "Young Sign Company". When I came across these Apache Chips ... I called James Campiglia and told him how excited I was about this rare find. He arranged for me to send color copies of these gems to the TR King Factory for verification. I did and the results were amazing.
TR king manufactured and supplied the "APACHE CASINO" Downtown Las Vegas with these large crown chips. They went on to say that 200 of each color were made. It was well worth the small verification fee I paid. The chips are identical on boths sides, being hot stamped in fancy large letters saying APACHE CASINO. I was also informed that ashtrays with the same artwork as the cocktail napkin & matchbook were on the glass ashtrays ...Yes they did have ashtrays with advertising on them. I hope this helps clear the air on this subject. Goodnight Gracie. Thanks for listening ... Rich Burgel
