I don't profess to know who is right and who is incorrect in this debate (notice I didn't say "wrong") ... but I have learned over the past ten days or so during the grading threads ... when all else fails, consult the dictionary for the final authorative word.
CASINO: "A building or room used for social amusements".
I know of postcards from the Jersey Shore of building that called themselves "casinos" where no gambling took place. In fact, there is a well-known restaurant/nightclub right now in operation at the Atlantic Highlands (NJ) Marina that is called "Shore Casino". There are several post cards from Atlantic City and other seashore towns up and down the Jersey Coast that refers to boardwalk arcades as "casinos". I believe there is another example of such a "casino" on Catalina Island on the west coast.
I don't know how all this applies to the Apache Casino, but my point is that sometimes what is stated on a matchbook or napkin may not be necessarily so.
