I have nothing against a "standard" when it comes to grading but it is inevitable that when a "grade" is put to a chip, the next question asked would be..."now what is the value with a chip is xxx grade?". I hate to do it but I have to agree that there is not much of a difference between the "standard" grading system as you propose and 'slabbing' except that the "expert" is known and trusted and words instead of a numeric value are used. I'm not for slabbing....far from it, but we've gotten along just fine the past 10 years or so without an "official" grading system and I do not think we really need it now. It will only lead to "price differences" between grades and that was my biggest fear with slabbing. This whole grading issue could be more trouble than it's worth. I go with the flow anymore and if that's what the majority wants, I'll go along as well but I still have my opinions about certain issues and will continue to express them whenever possible.
P.S.- The 'grade' of the Caesars chip USED/NOTCH CANCELLED.
