I really haven't gone and asked at the cage before. I enjoy playing Blackjack and usually get my chips at the table. Added benefit here is that many times they don't actually cost me anything. I will usually play for an hour or two on about $50 and as I find good chips I drop them in my pocket. If I leave when I am ahead, or even, than I haven't actually paid anything for my chips. If I have lost? Well I had a good time.

I was playing at Luxor last June, with a friend. We got a few Blue Man and a couple of the regular chips. Can't remember the design, I think it was an Egyptian figure though. He was not a collector and asked what I was doing when I took chips from my winnings and put them in my pocket. I told him how I collected them and he thought it was cool. He then put a couple aside to take home to his kids. After a couple of Blackjacks at the $5 table we had some tokens too. As we cashed out at the cage, the cashier noticed him scruitenizing his tokens. She inquired and he responded that he was picking out some good ones to take home. The cashier then mentioned that the tokens were actually a set of 5(?) and proceeded to go through the rack to find him one of each. I didn't realize there were different ones so I had her do the same for me. They weren't uncirculated but they were all in good condition. Reading these posts I am sorry that I didn't think to tip her. Her courtesy and interest in our hobby was very appreciated.

This is the second thread since last June that mentioned going up to the cage and asking for unusual, obsolete, foriegn or LE chips that may still be around. I never thought that LEs would still be around and as for obsoletes or foriegns, I never thought of those possibilities either. Might be a good way to expand my collection into areas that I otherwise might not be able to. I can't wait to get back and try this myself. Thanks for posting the friendly and less than friendly establishments. It will certainly help to not waste valuable time.

Along the lines of my method of finding good chips I would offer these observations in return. First of all, check your payouts at the dollar slots. I have found numerous foriegn tokens in decent condition. At Orleans, I have found NY NY, Main Street Station and Strat tokens. My favorite places for finding decent LE chips at tables is Orleans and Luxor. I also found a couple at Aladdin but lost quite a bit in the process.*vbg* I recall getting another LE somewhere else but can't remember where right now. OH WELL.
