I have a question for you....what is the proper procedure for tipping, when one is jilling a casino employee? (a total stranger)

A couple of years ago, I wanted one of the football shaped 25¢ denomination signs that was on the machines at the Las Vegas Club. I sucessfully jilled an employee (I didn't know that's what it was called....but NEEEEEEED and PLEEEEEZZZEEEE were used profusely in my plea) after being rewarded with the sign, I did tip the employee $5. Was that the proper procedure?
