I gave up on the long thread below about chip & token terms. But let me try to tie it together with that other long thread on ethics (i.e. when you find a bargain chip, who offers what & when...)
If a drunk numismatist taps me on the shoulder when I'm downtown on Fremont St., and if he holds out a mustard colored round thing with little hat & cane indentions around the edge/rim, and it has a white thing in the middle that says "Landmark $5" with a neat picture of the old Landmark, and the drunk says to me "Hey, want to buy this TOKEN for $20?", what am I supposed to do:
a) pull out a $20 and buy it?
b) explain to him, that's not a token, it's a chip (or check)?
c) accompany him to GGS and show him the value in the current TCR?
d) suggest he sober up before contemplating such a sale?
e) ask what ICG grade it is?
f) ask if he's ever met a guy named Gene?
g) wake up, realizing I must be dreaming after reading too many BB posts?
(Just a little teasing, folks. Don't take me seriously )
