When you say that Token is an acceptable word for chip you don't mean to say that the words are equivalent do you?

If I went to a numismatic convention and simply told someone that I collect tokens they would not assume that my collection was limited to what we call chips and tokens.

I suspect that the word token has so broad a meaning that it could encompass so mant items that casino chips might not even cross the mind of that person as what i collect.
