John,
The people that make chips call them chips. Even our friends in France!!!!

TR King has been making poker chips for 70 years, and they called them chips from the very beginning.
Gaming Commissions have specific rules concerning chips, and tokens, and they aren't the same.
We have the people who make them, the people who collect them, the people who use them to conduct their daily business and the people who regulate legal acceptance and implementation for usage ALL calling them "chips".
It is incorrect for an ANA glossary to define chips as tokens, because they aren't! Anyone using the word "token" when describing a "chip" is wrong, be it due to a lack of knowledge or a stubborn desire to hold onto an archaic definition.
