Jim, I've noted in a previous post that manufacturers are now making the distinction between the French style plastic (jetons) and the American style chip. If you were to go out in the French countryside and show any Frenchman an American style casino chip and ask him what it is, I think he would say it's a "jeton de casino, Monsieur Reilly." (a casino token Mr Reilly.) 
He will not be wrong.
