In which category of our annual awards would a beautiful jeton be entered, COTY or TOTY?

There may be a functional difference between "chips" and "checks", but it is a distinction that neither we as hobbyists nor (American!) casinos as issuers pay much attention to.

It might perhaps be necessary, if entering a casino chip display as an ANA or FUN exhibit, to refer to the category of entry as "tokens". Nevertheless, I would expect any written material in the exhibit to use the commonly understood hobby terminology (perhaps by way of an explanation for the purpose of educating other, non-casino chip collecting, numismatists). I'd be amazed if the ANA or FUN required that any written material in the exhibit refer to chips as "tokens".
