Putting your casino chips in checked luggage is a huge mistake. Too much risk that you will never see them again.
Last year when traveling to the convention, after everyone was seated on the plane the Flight Attendent made an announcement looking for Barry Sanders. Everyone including myself looked around thinking it odd that Barry Sanders would be flying from Albany to Las Vegas. 5 minutes later they corrected themselves -- They were looking for Peter Sanders. I identified myself and she came over and asked if I had any electronic equipment in my bag.
I told the only thing I could think of was the charger for my cell phone. She told me that my bag was making a buzzing noise and vibrating. At that point I realized it was my cordless electric beard trimmer which must have gotten switched into the on position.
I told her that is what it must be. They pulled my bag and made me get off the plane and open the bag to show them, by the time all this happened the battery had actually run down anyway.
BTW the penalty for all this was that when we landed in Vegas, my bag was the absolute last one to come out on the conveyor.
