I sypmpathize with your reluctance to get behind the wheel.
From the description of the two accidents you were in, they were both unavoidable and not your fault.
I would seriously consider an attempt to get behind the wheel again.
I personally feel more comfortable when my fate is in my hands as opposed to someone elses
