I've seen soooooo much on this and talked to Gene soooooo much that I think I can answer the question.

If you are referring to the date being on the edge of the chips, then yes (kind of), there are 2001 and 2002, as follows:

The house $1.00 chip for 2001 comes in four versions, Ace, King, Queen and Jack. They plan on culling out worn and broken chips, and anticipate shrinkage (due to collectors) to the 2001 chips and will add 2002 chips in the new year. The 2002 chips are also AKQJ, however, very quickly they ran short of 2001 $1 chips, so they dipped into the already on-hand supply of 2002 $1 chips. However, they only dipped into the KQ (if I am not mistaken) and the AJ has not been released, but they will be in 2002.

I believe that they plan on doing the refurbishment every year. I am not sure if this "refurbishment" concept applies to any other denominations. I also find it interesting that only AKQJ exists. Perhaps it is only matter of time before 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and Joker get released!
