I have to disagree with you on the general statement that you make that "AOL Sucks" The service offers alot of features that are very worthwhile. I do get frustrated though when, as you say, my complaints fall on deaf ears. Or, when my simple questions or complaints get misdirected or misunderstood by the CS reps that are entrusted with dealing with my comments.
I was paying attention to BABE and many of them and I recall Gregs post telling of the decision to delete all of his posts. In fact Marv, and I, along with others did put together detailed complaints along with links to TCB posts and lists of IP numbers and sent them to AOL. I do recall it being said that his, BABE(?), or whoever, account was cancelled at one point. As I understand, one problem is that when AOL does cancel an account the perp will then go to their neighborhood Target or OfficeMax etc and pick up a new intro disk for AOL. Then they open a new account and start all over till they get booted again or use up their 700 free hours. Then it is back to square one again with a new disk.
As I said last night, I sympathize with Greg's situation and I appreciate the efforts that he has gone through to keep this board open to AOL users and keep the offensive posts out of sight. He should not have to do that. I am concerned though with the attitude of many, all over the internet and usenet, to shun or put down those of us on AOL. That does not solve the problem. I am pleased with the features and services that I have access to here on AOL. I am a bit disturbed with the companies ability to back up their service. They offer a good product but don't support it well. That is why I hope someone will more rationally and accurately discribe the problems that are being reflected on AOL users so that a proper complaint can be sent to AOL.
I do not know the nature of a complaint yet. I am not experiencing tech errors. I am not being harassed by another AOL subscriber and do not know of an AOL user to address a complaint about. I guess the only thing I can complain about is that they lack the interest or ability to act on complaints and that costs AOL subscribers in the discrimination and ridicule on the net. I question though whether a general complaint like that will have enough to find it's way to the proper eyes. I can even tell them of the lack of access I get to some websites or on this board but I know they will respond as they did on my first complaint about BABE, et al, The Chipboard is not an AOL site and is not maintained on AOL. They, (AOL) therefore, have no control over this board and can not do anything about it. With the BABE incident, AOL suggested I contact the Webmaster. I responded back that he had already complained to AOL and the problem was not with TCB. It was with "An Abusive AOL Subscriber". I included IP numbers and links to posts and even cited AOL'S Terms Of Service that said a subscribers actions "Anywhere on the internet" will be held to TOS as if the conduct was "ON AOL". That may have gotten the attention of those who would have just brushed it off. I don't know how much my letter had to do with it or others threats of lawsuits but it was after that barage of email that it appears his account was cancelled. About 3 weeks later though, he was back.
