Bernie,
I don't disagree with that the prices on many new issues have gotten out of hand. At this point my collecting of new Limited Editions has shrunk to a bare minimum and I am looking more and more at older obsolete chips.
But Andy and other sellers are not the cause of this. (most of the chips I have bought from Andy were at or below the prices being charged by most other sellers) The blame has to fall on collectors who are willing to pay these prices coupled with the casinos making ridiculously small issues.
Look at the Halloween chips from Mahoneys and opera House . . . Only 30 of the $100's were made. If 2000 of them had been made would there be even 30 collectors who wanted one? Probably not. But because there are only 30 of them they are all in demand. Why is that? The Greed or maybe its vanity of Collectors who only want something if others can't get it?
As long as these collectors are being driven by this desire I have no sympathy for them having to pay a high price.
The collector's I feel sorry for are the ones who would have collected these chips regardless of the number issued and now find themselves priced out by the collectors whose only interest is in the small release numbers.
