Donna,
It's between Woodville and Livingston. The paper always refers to the location as Livingston, but it's on the reservation outside of Woodville. The other day an article ran (next to my afghan article, LOL) that the Indians were planning to open even if the state ruled against them. They have BEEN ready to do business but were waiting on the courts. The date has been set some time ago as November, but as you know that is always subject to change. Walter Umphery a big time asbestos and tobbacco lawyer here in Beaumont has put an awful lot of money in the surrounding areas, as though this thing is going to fly. I think its a matter of the Indians greasing the right palms.
The Southern Baptist and another big group in Houston are launching tons of anti-gambling propaganda to sway public sentiment. (While Greyhound bus lines are making a killing on charter service to Lake Charles & Kinder casinos from Houston!) A lot of other people are opposing the Texas money going to Lousiana,(while Lousiana lobbys against gaming in Texas! LOL) It's one big p*ssing match.
