Everyone in Nevada used silver dollars, Morgans and Peace dollars, in the machines until 1965 when the first private tokens were authorized. I imagine the one in this case came from a machine. Those were the days you could play for real money. Today... only tokens. Even the Ike and SBA dollars are tokens with no intrinsic value.
The casinos had a different sound in those days. Silver coin has a ring to it that the base metal tokens don't. Of course, most tables don't use tokens today either with the $5 and $10 minimums in most clubs.
