I was there in Nov 1995. The orange HK$10 and purple HK$50 were in play at that time. Exchange rate is still the same at $7 HK to $1 US. Funny they don't use the Macau picata in the casinos. I guess the majority of customers use HK dollars. The slot machines use the HK$2 coin, which is just a little over a quarter.
With China taking over the Portuguese colony, and the "Casino consession contract" coming up for renewal, who knows who will control the gaming syndicate. If the government takes over, will they issue new chips?
