James' book is great for the new chipper. The pictures help this new chipper gain clearer understanding of "what is what" when I haven't a clue.
For anyone wondering which books may be of benefit to you... my take is this:
TCR is my "bible" for NV chips... but the C&W book covers other states in addition to NV ...
and it is less cumbersome to handle. I usually have the Official in the back seat of my Jeep when I go chippin'. I need BOTH books in my library and use them both regularly.
I also carry James' book in my beach bag at swap meets
(that should conjure up a scary visual for you all -

BUT I HAVE ONE COMPLAINT (of both books):
YOU MEN AUTHORS appear to be a touch colorblind...
maybe in future issues you should ask your wives' and/or S.O.'s for help??????????
