I just finished up at the Chip Show. What a fun time. Everyone was friendly and helped out this under-funded, over-wanting chip fool.
I just had to post about what a class act several people were. For example, take Steve Zacchi. Here's the story. It's getting late on the second day of Rene's chip show. I'm running around like an idiot because I cannot manage my time well and I get way too chatty. I remember that I wanted to pick up some Laughlin river run chips, so I run back to my room to get my list. I come back down. Steve is sitting next to the Conrads and they both look at me. I told them what I was looking for, and while I'm sure he had most of them, he pointed me towards the Conrads where I bought 8 chips.
Steve is probably one of the nicest guys I've met while chipping and always behaves in a classy way, even when money is involved. This is just one of the great examples of why I love the people in this hobby.
Kudos also go out to Henry Garrett, Mel Jung, Bud Meyer, Walt Gonski and our host, Rene. (And I'm sure a few others who I'm forgetting.) They all took kindly to this poor soul and helped me fill out some of my "needs" without raking me over the coals.
When it all boiled down, everyone I dealt with was a little more interested in watching a fellow chipper smile like a little kid at Christmas than squeezing that last dollar out of a chip.
Thanks to everyone. You guys made my trip!!!
